The works comprised the installation of street furniture including bollards, benches and cycle stands; paving and kerb installation and also specialist resin bound aggregate surfacing.

The packages awarded to O’Keefe Construction (Greenwich) Limited so far at the college, are part of a new £86m purpose-built educational facility for the Medway Towns being undertaken by Main Contractor, Kier Build.  The modern new campus is made up of three main buildings linked by two transparent pavilions and also the development of a public park adjacent to the new campus, creating an attractive environment for both students and local residents.  O’Keefe Construction have so far secured approx £5.5m of the works.

During works at the new campus site, an historic 19th Century Napoleonic listening post was also discovered.  The brick built igloo structure was used as a monitoring station for soldiers to listen out for enemy tunnel digging and has been confirmed by English Heritage to be the only known exposed listening post in the country.  As part of the works, O’Keefe Construction have built a viewing platform around the carefully excavated listening post and tunnels, preserving the structure as an important heritage site and focal point for both the students and visitors to the campus.
